What is Nordic Walking?
Nordic Walking is a sport that consists of walking with poles specially designed for this activity, applying a given technique that is similar to cross-country skiing. Learning this technique with a qualified trainer, so that the walker can benefit from the activity, is recommended. Nordic Walking offers great advantages compared to other sport activities due to the fact that approximately 600 muscles are moved (that’s approx 90% of the muscles in the human body). This activity is directed towards health more than towards performance.

Sports gear.
The only indispensable materials for the Nordic Walking are the poles. A good Nordic Walking pole comes in one piece and it’s normally made of fiber glass and carbon fiber. The more carbon the pole has, the lighter, stiffer and more expensive it is.
Its most peculiar feature is its straps, specially designed for this sport. This strap fits the hand perfectly and doesn’t get lost, opening the hand. The tip is normally very sharp and steel-made.
We have to pay attention to the pole size, as it is essential to benefit from the activity. Normally, size is calculated with the following formula: Height x 0.66. As poles are manufactured with sizes that vary in 5cm intervals, the calculation value is rounded down, as for a beginner, a shorter pole is better than a longer one.
